Last week, I had the opportunity to attend InsurTech Insights in London. If you’ve already read our CEO’s blog about his experience at ITI, then you know it was a massive event. It was so huge, in fact, that I felt like a lost puppy wandering around the venue. There were so many things happening all at once that I didn't even know where to begin. Although I mostly stayed at our stand and networked with other insurers, I did take some time out of my day to attend a few of the keynote talks. One talk, in particular, stood out to me and really captured my attention—here’s why.

The Drive for Change

 Dame Inga Beale is an icon of the insurance industry. With over four decades in global finance and her incredible tenure as Lloyd's first female CEO, she graced the stage and dazzled us with her presence by being the opening keynote speaker at ITI. She took us on a journey of the insurance minefield, pointing out how it can be hard for innovators to thrive in an industry that often favours tradition.  

While big names like Lloyd's may still require suits and ties, what they really need is ideas - something which new generations are being stifled from bringing forward due to outdated systems of conformity. It’s clear; if insurers want evolution, then space must be made for fresh thinking! It's time to ditch the stuffy suits and embrace the t-shirt and jeans brigade! Let's welcome the next generation of disruptors and let them unleash their creativity on the industry.
